This exciting journey to Annapurna base camp involves a gradual climb to an elevation of 4,130 meters (13,551 feet), surrounded by the stunning Annapurna region, featuring the foothills of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre mountains.

The ABC trek unfolds breathtaking scenery, from charming landscapes and hidden valleys to glistening glaciers, vibrant forests, and majestic snow-capped peaks.

While the terrain can be challenging due to the increasing elevation, proper preparation and understanding of the altitude gain will help you navigate the journey with ease and fully enjoy the adventure

The Annapurna Base Camp trek spans 13 days, encompassing various stages from arrival at Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport to a flight or bus ride from Kathmandu to Pokhara, and eventually descending from Annapurna Base Camp.

Day 1-Ulleri to Ghorepani:

On the first day of the Annapurna Base Camp trek, you will embark on a journey from Ulleri to Ghorepani.

Ghorepani is a charming village situated at an elevation of 2,840 meters (9,318 feet).

The trail leading to Ghorepani gradually ascends from Ulleri, passing through picturesque forests of oak and rhododendrons.

Journey to Annapurna base camp includes passing through Banthanti, which sits at 2,250 meters (7,382 feet), and Nangethanti, located at a slightly higher elevation of 2,460 meters (8,071 feet).

After approximately 11 kilometers of trekking, which takes about an hour, you will reach Ghorepani.

The elevation gain for the day is around 1,200 meters.

Commence your trek from Ulleri at an altitude of 2,070 meters and conclude the day at Ghorepani, reaching an elevation of 2,860 meters.

The highest point during the day’s journey is Ghorepani at 2,840 meters.

Day 2- Early morning hike up to Poon Hill & back and then, Trek to Tadapani:

On the second day of the ABC trek, an early morning adventure awaits as you hike up to the mesmerizing Poon Hill, standing tall at an elevation of 3,210 meters (10,531 feet).

This location offers a spectacular panorama of the mountain range, creating a captivating spectacle.

The vantage point is particularly renowned for providing an unobstructed view of the sunrise over the majestic high Himalayas.

After spending approximately 1 to 2 hours absorbing the breathtaking scenery, retrace back to Ghorepani.

Upon returning to Ghorepani, many trekkers opt for a hot breakfast to refuel for the day.

The journey continues climbing along ridges, traversing through enchanting pine and rhododendron forests, leading you towards the elevated destination of Deurali at 2,960 meters (9,711 feet).

Following this ascent, descend to Banthanti before taking a turn towards your next destination, Tadapani.

The highest point reached on this day’s trek is Tadapani, situated at an altitude of 2,610 meters

Day 3-Tadapani to Chomrong:

On the third day of the Annapurna base camp trekking, you will set out from Tadapani to reach Chomrong.

The day kicks off with a descent down steep slopes, winding your way through enchanting rhododendron forests.

As you leave Tadapani behind, the trail gradually eases as you arrive at Gurjung, a charming village inhabited by the Gurung people.

The path becomes more relaxed from Gurjung, making for an easy and pleasant walk that eventually leads you to the destination of Chomrong, situated at an altitude of 2,140 meters (7,021 feet).

The highest point reached on your day’s trek is Chomrong, offering you a unique and culturally rich experience along the way.

Day 4-Himalaya Hotel from Chomrong:

On the fourth day of Annapurna base camp trek, you’ll be heading from Chomrong to the Himalaya Hotel.

As you begin, the trail descends to the Chomrong Khola, and then the journey continues with a climb to Khuldighar at 2,380 meters (7,808 feet), where there used to be an ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area) check post.

As you proceed, you will encounter a clearing in the forest a little further along the path.

The route then takes you very steeply down a rock bank, leveling out as you go.

Throughout this part of the trek, you’ll pass through dense thickets of bamboo at the bottom of the gorge while always staying on the west side of the river.

The trail leads you through bamboo and rhododendron forests, eventually bringing you to the Himalayan Hotel at an altitude of 2,950 meters.

This leg of the ABC journey offers an opportunity to experience varied landscapes and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Himalayas.

Day 5-Himalaya hotel to Annapurna base camp:

On the fifth day of your journey, you’ll be trekking from the Himalaya Hotel to the Annapurna Base Camp.

The trail takes you upward, passing by notable landmarks such as the Hinko Cave, Deurali, and then Machapuchare Base Camp.

It is important to note that Machapuchare Base Camp isn’t a traditional base camp since climbing Mt. Machapuchare is not allowed.

This region, surrounded by mountains, is renowned as the Annapurna Sanctuary.

Continuing the path, a two-hour trek from Machapuchare Base Camp brings you to the awe-inspiring Annapurna Base Camp at an elevation of 4,130 meters (13,550 feet).

Here, you will be treated to astonishing views of the surrounding mountain scenery, creating a truly spectacular and memorable experience.
