Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that Palworld has recently launched. Becoming one of the fastest selling games ever on Steam, Palworld is a game that is a blend between Pokemon, ARK: Survival Evolved, and maybe even a touch of Zelda. With millions of copies sold, it is clear people have fallen in love with it. This is surprising, since most people hadn’t heard of it just a week or so ago.
Now, Microsoft had the foresight to see that Palworld could probably be a success, so they managed to bag the console exclusive for the game. Oh, and they put it up on their Game Pass subscription service too (which you can buy with the right Xbox digital gift card). This meant that the millions of subscribers to Game Pass could play Palworld for ‘free’. Although, it has just been announced that the Palworld version on Xbox is a bit behind the times.
Palworld on Xbox and Windows Store Behind Steam Version
Now, when a game launches, you can expect the features between each version of the game to be broadly the same. So, people had a bit of a surprise when Palworld launched with different features between the Xbox (and Windows Store) version and the Steam version.
It turns out that the Steam version of Palworld is one version ahead of the Xbox Game Pass version. This means that the Xbox Game Pass version of the game is missing a couple of features, has some additional bugs, and the balancing is a little bit off. Oh, and the game being a different version means that there is no cross play either. So, if you play on Xbox, you can’t play with your friends on Steam. As you can imagine, gamers hate it.
Gamers have been taking to sites like Reddit in their droves to complain about Palworld not having feature parity on the Xbox. A lot of people hated the lack of feature parity so much that they opted for the Steam version instead.
The developers behind Palworld have claimed that the two versions of the game will be the same soon, but things on the Xbox side of things seem to be taking a little bit longer than expected. The Xbox version has yet to receive certification, and until that happens, Palworld can’t release an update for Xbox.
When Will The Versions Hit Parity?
At the moment, there seems to be no firm date on when the versions will have feature parity. Although, the Palworld devs claim that they have an update pushed to Xbox, and they’re just waiting for it to be approved.
We expect Microsoft will try and push through that update, since the unexpected success of Palworld has resulted in the game becoming a flagship title, and they don’t really want people ditching Game Pass to get the game on Steam instead. So, if we had to guess, the games will have feature parity over the next week or so.
