While the title makes it sound like a fluffy romance, Not So Shoujo Love Story is much more than that. It tackles big themes of sexuality and identity with a lighthearted narrative that is funny at times but also very moving. Plus, the art style of Curryuku is absolutely gorgeous and makes you want to binge read all the manga!
One of the main themes of Not So Shoujo Love Story is that of friendships between queer women. Two of the best examples are Hanna and Susan. Hanna is a feisty fashion model who has crushes on boys but prefers the more rambunctious outcast Rei. Her relationship with Susan is complicated because they are friends but also rivals in their competition for Hansum’s affection.
The webtoon has a completed 86 chapters and is definitely worth reading if you are looking for some good laughs. But be warned, it’s a very addicting manga and you might end up staying up late to finish reading it! Then again, it’s a great way to kill time while you are waiting for the next chapter.
Love Doctor GL Webtoons
GL webtoons are manga, comics, and graphic novels that depict romantic and sometimes intimate relationships between female characters. Her Tale of Shim Chong is one of my favorite gl webtoons as it features a witty and adorable main pairing. This historical drama has all the angst and tender moments you’d expect from a GL manga.
Ring My Bell GL Webtoons
GL stands for “Girls’ Love” and is used to describe the genre of comics or manhwa that focus on romantic and intimate relationships between female characters. While it’s not as popular as its male counterpart BL (Boys’ Love), the GL genre is steadily growing in popularity among women and LGBTQ+ readers who enjoy stories centered around femaleromantic connections.
In Ring My Bell, aspiring webcomic author Mai Sohn finds herself falling for her sometimes homophobic neighbor Chungyeon. The lighthearted manga is a sweet and adorable read that will give you plenty of giddy moments. Although it does use homophobia as a plot device, it isn’t gratuitous and does a good job of addressing these issues in a sensitive and responsible manner.
In Getting to Know Grace, Herta spends her life in the Grace household as their “nurse.” The two women develop an unexpected romance over time, and this YA manhwa is both touching and psychologically interesting. The art is also gorgeous, making this one of the most well-rounded gl webtoons available.
Pulse GL Webtoons
Females, in all forms of fiction, typically get the short end of the stick when it comes to romance. BL isn’t much better as it’s mostly focused on heterosexual relationships, so when you find an GL manga that does it well, it can feel like a breath of fresh air.
Pulse is one such manga that does it well by showing the complexities of love between two women. Mel is a heart surgeon who lives life to the fullest and sees sex more as a tool for delight than a sign of affection. She meets Lynn, a cardiac patient who has a life-threatening condition and her view of love is turned upside down.
This manga is more mature than most as the main characters are both adults. There are a lot of steamy scenes in the manga and some sexually explicit dialogue, but the story does a great job of portraying the nuances of their relationship.
While the manga isn’t as sexy as others on this list, it does a good job of telling the story of two women that work together at a mobile gaming company. Sungji is the newest employee and finds herself drawn to her team leader Sumin. However, Sumin is in a tumultuous relationship with Seju which adds an extra layer of complexity to their potential relationship. The art style in this manga is stunning and the plot is top tier.
Mage And Demon Queen GL Webtoons
Some of the best gl webtoons feature fully fleshed out leads with compelling stories. Muted, for example, is a lesbian witch on a journey of self-discovery from her abusive aunt while Not So Shoujo Love Story is a cute and fun romcom about two high school girls who develop a crush on one another. Mage and Demon Queen is also a great choice, featuring a mage trying to win the hand of the Demon Queen while everyone else wants to kill her.
Unlike some of the other gl webtoons that focus on same-sex romance, Mage and Demon Queen takes a lighthearted approach to its narrative. It’s easy to get lost in the world of this fantasy RPG and its engaging cast of characters.
The Bottom Lines

Her nemesis is Velverosa, the Demon Queen of Folstina and a former isekai Hero from another world with a deadly cancer that has merged with her mind. She’s also the head of her own adventurer academy and a bit of a jerkass who dislikes most of her fellow adventurers. She has a special affinity for lamia, creatures with snake-like lower bodies, and she even has a fetish for stockings. She’s so fond of them that she once made a half fox demon her slave to make a pair for her.
